HILLSBOROUGH, N.C., Nov. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Adamandeve.com (http://www.adamandeve.com), America's most trusted source for adult products, is back this month with new results from its annual sex survey. This time, the company asked over 1,000 adults if they would be open to having a sexless marriage – and the results might shock you.
A surprising 21% of those polled said they would be open to having a sexless marriage, while 63% of the respondents said they would not be open to it and 16% were undecided.
Of these, more men than women (22% versus 20%) were open to a sexless relationship, while 17% of the women versus 15% of the men were unsure.
"There are numerous reasons a sexless marriage may occur including illness, resentment, stress and boredom," explains adamandeve.com sexpert Dr. Kat Van Kirk. "Lovemaking is an integral part of marriage, and when one partner desires intimacy and the other one does not, oftentimes breakdown occurs."
"We all know that communication is key," continues Dr. Kat. "However, in the case of sexless marriage, which is defined as sex less than 10 times a year, communication is paramount."
The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third party survey company, of over 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices. "Sex Chat with Dr. Kat" can be found on podcasts through iTunes or www.drkat.com. Her book, "The Married Sex Solution: A Realistic Guide to Saving Your Sex Life," can be found on Amazon.com.
