Addcomp, Supplier of Polymer Additive Solutions, Opens New Distribution Center in North America
Facility in Michigan will be headquarters for marketing services and customer support
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Addcomp North America Inc. announces the opening of its new location in Rochester Hills, Michigan. A subsidiary of Addcomp Holland BV, the company provides additive masterbatches and compacted products to polymer manufacturers and converters in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The new facility, which opened its doors on December 1, 2009, will initially serve as a center to provide product distribution, technical assistance, and marketing services for customers throughout North America. "We can now bring in full-container shipments of products from our manufacturing plants in Europe and ship them from here in less-than-truckload quantities," said Louis Martin, director of business development for Addcomp North America. "This capability will allow our customers to accept products on schedules closely aligned with their production needs," Martin added. "It should significantly reduce their work-in-progress inventories and greatly simplify logistics planning and budgeting."
Planning for the foreseeable future
The new facility in Rochester Hills encompasses 16,050 square feet (1,490 square meters). Most of the workspace is devoted to the management of product inventory and distribution. The building features a grade-level loading dock, to facilitate the handling of shipments up to 43,000 pounds (19,500 kg).
A material-analysis laboratory will provide melt-flow, density, and moisture-content data as part of the company's quality-control activities. These resources will also support the development of products that are custom-formulated for the specific performance and processing requirements of an individual customer. The facility also includes office and executive meeting spaces for the marketing and customer-support staff.
"For the first year, we expect to concentrate on helping polymer manufacturers discover which of our masterbatches or compacts will provide the greatest benefits over the long haul," said Martin. "When the needs and benefits are clearly identified," he pointed out, "these resources can serve as the basis for local manufacturing. Until then, this Michigan location is ideally suited to our current customer-contact mission."
