adenin IntelliEnterprise Version 11 Offers Task-based Navigation, Dynamic Contextual Linking; Makes Finding Intranet Information Easier
BOSTON, May 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- adenin TECHNOLOGIES, provider of enterprise Intranet software, has released Version 11 of its IntelliEnterprise Intranet platform. The new version adds task-based navigation, a navigation feature that substantially improves usability by making content findable based on what the user wants to do rather than by who owns it.
"The main reason employees use their Intranet is because they are looking for a specific piece of information or they need to complete a specific task," said Martin Amm, CEO of adenin TECHNOLOGIES. "Most companies organize their Intranet departmentally. That means employees have to know who is responsible for a piece of information before they can find it, which can be frustrating. With task-based navigation, we are making it much easier for people to find what they need."
The new navigation feature, called "I Want To...", lists common tasks and delivers all the information related to a particular task on a single page: documents, procedures, policies, people, applications and workflow. The appropriate content is generated dynamically through contextual links, creating meaningful relationships between pieces of information and making everything easily findable regardless of where it is stored in the Intranet.
"Jakob Nielsen, a well-known usability expert, said that in his company's user testing of Intranets, task-based navigation structures endured better than Intranets organized departmentally; that task-based structures helped maintain a more stable Intranet despite reorgs, mergers, new initiatives and other corporate changes," added Amm. "As we are now in our 12th year of delivering Intranet solutions, we have seen first-hand how organizations have to deal with these changes over time. We decided to add this new capability to help our clients improve the manageability and usability of their Intranets."
Version 11 of IntelliEnterprise also includes a variety of other enhancements:
- Contextual Links – Any type of information can be linked to any other type of information (for example, a file topic can be linked to a record stored in a database). These bidirectional links are dynamic and self-updating – if the content is moved, all links to it are updated automatically. They also follow security rules: a user won't see a file if he doesn't have permission to view it.
- Reservation System - Users can reserve shared resources like meeting rooms, laptops, or cars.
- Application Builder Grid – The grid is now optimized for a large number of rows. Loading is now twice as fast for small files and 4600% better for the largest files.
- Calendar Views – Planning and scheduling events with the Application Builder is now easier.
- Content Inventory – Keeping the Intranet up-to-date is now easier, with features that identify outdated or little-used content and show who the "content owner" is for inquiries and feedback.
IntelliEnterprise is an all-encompassing platform for information management, collaboration, social networking, and process automation. It includes more than 100 components that can be combined to create almost any kind of Intranet, extranet, enterprise portal or social network. The Application Builder makes it easy for non-programmers to create additional applets that can be plugged into the Intranet, delivering a custom-tailored solution for any organization.
An innovative Modeler is included with IntelliEnterprise. The Modeler is a free, web-based service that lets users quickly architect, prototype, share and get feedback on their design for an Intranet, extranet or portal. Once the design has been approved, one click creates the actual Intranet.
