Adopt a Golden Atlanta Names Solid Gold Pet as Exclusive Dog Food Provider

ATLANTA, Nov. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Adopt a Golden Atlanta (AGA) has named Solid Gold Pet, America's first holistic pet food, as the exclusive dog food provider for their rescue. One of the largest rescue organizations in the country dedicated solely to Golden Retrievers, AGA believes that a high-quality, holistic food like Solid Gold is beneficial to the overall health and well-being of all rescued dogs, especially those it has saved from Istanbul, Turkey, this year.

In May, AGA brought 36 abandoned, purebred Golden Retrievers from Istanbul, Turkey, to Atlanta in the largest rescue of Golden Retrievers internationally. AGA has brought in three additional flights from Istanbul this year, rescuing a total of 94 Golden Retrievers. Virtually all of the dogs have had poor nutrition. Some have lived in shelters for years while many lived in the streets and forests surrounding Istanbul forging for food.

"All of the Turkey Dogs we have brought in have skin issues as a result of poor nutrition. Probably 90 percent of them need to gain weight and 10 percent of them – those who were living in front of restaurants and were fed scraps constantly – actually need to lose some weight," explained Lauren Genkinger, AGA founder and president. "Good nutrition helps with all these issues. Getting the Golden Retrievers from Turkey started right away on a high-quality, holistic dog food like Solid Gold is very beneficial for them," she added.

Adopt a Golden Atlanta's fifth rescue flight of Golden Retrievers from Turkey arrives in December with 30 dogs landing in Atlanta. As part of the partnership, Solid Gold Pet will help support the rescue efforts from Turkey through 2016.
