ADP Survey Reveals Compelling HR, Payroll and Compensation Trends
Variances Exist between Desired State and Reality; Integration, Accuracy and Process Control Cited as Key Concerns
ROSELAND, N.J., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- ADP ®, a leading provider of HR, payroll and benefits administration services, today announced the results of its first HR-Payroll-Compensation study, titled The State of HR-Payroll-Compensation Integration: 2010, at the 13th Annual HR Technology® Conference in Chicago. Key findings of the study by Workscape, an ADP Company, show that just over 35 percent of respondents have integrated HR, payroll and compensation solutions. This figure is considerably low, particularly when compared to the 83 percent of respondents that cited integrated functionality as either critical or highly important.
Other key findings include:
- Almost half of the survey respondents are still using spreadsheets or even pen and paper (44 percent and two percent, respectively) for planning compensation rewards.
- 92 percent of respondents said that accuracy in the compensation reward process was critical or highly important; but only 17.8 percent stated that they had tight control over year-round compensation decisions.
- Almost 33% of respondents claimed to have on-demand access into their entire compensation process.
"Our findings clearly indicate the advantages of automated data flow among HR, compensation and payroll systems," said Terrence McCrossan, Division Vice President, Marketing and Strategy, ADP National Account Services. "Integration of these key systems and processes simplifies payroll and compensation changes throughout the year, reduces errors, and improves visibility for management, HR practitioners and employees."
More than 300 senior HR and compensation leaders based in the U.S. were surveyed in August and September 2010. Almost 60 percent of the survey respondents were from organizations of 5,000 employees or more. Half of the respondents hold director, vice president or "C" level titles.
