Advocates for Responsible Care (ARxC) Presents March for Science Atlanta
Atlanta Joins the March - Worldwide Effort to Stand Up for Science-based Policymaking in Public Health Matters
ATLANTA, April 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Citizens and scientists will stand up for data-driven policymaking with a march and rally in Atlanta on Earth Day, April 22, 2017. Science leaders have been concerned that scientific evidence is being rejected and ignored by the current administration, no longer informing critical issues such as vaccine safety and climate change.
An official satellite of the March for Science in Washington, D.C., the March for Science Atlanta expects more than 10,000 people to march in support of policymaking based on facts, uncensored communication between scientists and prevention of dismantling regulations that exist to protect our society and improve public health.
The March for Science Atlanta will kick off in Candler Park at 12:00 noon with speakers. The walk itself will begin at 1:00 p.m. and wrap up with closing remarks at 4:00 p.m.
Many Atlanta-area associations and nonprofits have partnered with the March for Science Atlanta. The event is in conjunction with over 428 satellite marches in over 200 locations across the world, from Asia to Africa, from the United Kingdom to South America, with five Marches throughout Georgia.
The Advocates for Responsible Care (ARxC) is the official partner of March for Science Atlanta, collecting donations on behalf of the march as a nonprofit fiscal sponsor.

March organizers are actively planning events for the day, including speakers, "Ask a Scientist" teach-ins and other outreach opportunities. In addition, organizers hope to reduce the march's carbon footprint by encouraging use of mass transit, carpooling, and a robust trash clean-up and recycling effort.
