Aegis Living Residents Take Advantage of Summer Events

REDMOND, Wash., Aug. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Aegis Living, a national leader in assisted living and memory care communities, makes an effort to enjoy summer outdoors with their residents.

Late July found 175 residents, family members and staff enjoying beautiful weather at O.O. Denny Park in Kirkland with a picnic and concert in the park.  The lunch included singing and dancing with live music from local band, The Haggis Brothers, and community costume contests.  The contests included Most Festive, Most Silly and Most Colorful, which employees and residents took very seriously.

"This was one of the best, feel good days in recent memory!  Amy Best (Regional Activities Director) did a great job coordinating the event and the Aegis Living staff shined like the sun," exclaimed Senior VP of Operations for the Washington region, Tom Laborde.

Next on the schedule was an outing to Safeco Field on August 15^th to watch the Seattle Mariners take on the Tampa Bay Rays.  Aegis living had reserved 100 seats for residents, families and employees.  More than 100 turned out on that momentous day to see the Mariners' pitcher, Felix Hernandez, make history with the team's first perfect game, and only the 23^rd in modern day baseball. 

"These events are part of a purposefully planned activities program and a small example of how we strive to make life better for our residents with social, cultural and recreational activities at Aegis Living communities," explained Mr. Laborde.

An afternoon on Lake Washington with the Seattle Argosy Dixieland Band and Lunch cruise is coming up mid-September.  Once again nearly 100 employees, residents and family members are invited to enjoy a 2 hour cruise with live Dixieland music and lunch.
