Aegis Ventures Welcomes Healthcare Leaders John Driscoll and Cris Ross as Venture Partners

NEW YORK, Aug. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Aegis Ventures today announced the appointment of two of healthcare's most accomplished executives – John Driscoll and Cris Ross – as Venture Partners. Aegis is a NYC-based venture studio that partners with entrepreneurs and health systems to launch and scale meaningful healthtech startups that drive healthcare forward.

Driscoll, a veteran entrepreneur and operator, has led organizations including Walgreens Boots Alliance, Castlight Health, Medco, CareCentrix, and Surescripts. Ross, one of the nation's most respected CIOs, spearheaded Mayo Clinic's digital transformation and held senior technology roles at CVS Health and Optum. As Venture Partners, they will help Aegis surface and evaluate opportunities for new company creation and advise portfolio companies on commercialization, integration with health systems, and strategic partnerships.

John Driscoll has led some of the healthcare industry's most influential companies. He was CEO of CareCentrix, later acquired by Walgreens, and previously served as President at Castlight Health and Group President for New Markets at Medco, which was recognized by Fortune as the most admired company in healthcare services. Earlier in his career, he built SureScripts into the nationwide standard for electronic prescribing across pharmacies, PBMs, and health plans. Today, Driscoll chairs the boards of Waystar Corporation, UConn Health, and Magnit Global.

Cris Ross brings more than 30 years of leadership experience spanning healthcare, technology, and government. As CIO of Mayo Clinic he led an enterprise-wide EHR convergence initiative, advanced data and AI collaborations with Google and Microsoft, and scaled innovation in analytics and machine learning. Ross has also chaired the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and served on advisory committees for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the U.S. Veterans Administration.

Driscoll and Ross join fellow Aegis Venture Partners Dr. Ash Zenooz, former CEO of Commure and Chief Medical Officer at Salesforce, and Dr. Steve Gipstein, former head of Worldwide Healthcare Markets at Apple.
