AES Tiete Posted Net Income of R$ 193.4 Million in 1Q11 to be Fully Distributed as Dividends

SAO PAULO, May 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AES Tiete S.A. (BM&FBovespa: GETI3 and GETI4; OTC: AESAY and AESYY) announced today its results for 1Q11.

AES Tiete recorded net income of R$ 193.4 million in 1Q11, representing a year-over-year drop of 12.1% due to a non-recurring event that had positively impacted the 1Q10 net income by R$ 42.6 million. AES Tiete's net income for 1Q11 would have remained stable year-over-year disregarding that non-recurring event.

The Company will remain focused on operational excellence and energy generation in 2011. Thus, it is planning to invest R$ 157.8 million in modernization and preventive maintenance in its power plants, as well as in concluding the construction of two SHPPs. In 1Q11, R$ 23.0 million were invested to upgrade the Nova Avanhandava, Ibitinga and Caconde hydropower plants.

In line with its shareholder remuneration policy, adopted since 2006, AES Tiete will distribute to its shareholders the total 1Q11 distributable income obtained in the form of dividends.
