AFCorse Ferrari Test Pilot Josh Cartu to Race in Jerusalem Formula Event
BEVERLY HILLS, California, October 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Responding to Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat's personal invitation, Ferrari's AFCorse race car test pilot Josh Cartu announced his plans to participate in this week's Formula 1 'Road Show for Peace' event - which is to be held on urban streets throughout the Israeli city capital through October 6-7th.
In his professional driving career, Cartu has trained with Audi, Lamborghini, BMW, and rubbed bumpers with the biggest names of the sport including Gianmaria Bruni and Michele Rugolo. Josh has trained with AFCorse in the GT Sports Car Racing class and is accompanied to Israel with legendary Ferrari teammates including former Formula 1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella and Marco Cioci.
Outside of professional circuits, Josh Cartu is no stranger to urban street rallies. Earlier this year, Cartu and his "Team Wolfpack" mates won Gumballl3000's "Best Team Award". He's also been named "Mr. Cavalacade" in Sicily this year at Ferrari's exclusive invite-only rally of their own.
According to racecar blogger Tom Peterson, Josh owns a stable of exotic machinery including Ferraris, BMWs, a Rolls Royce Phantom, and most recently, a brand new custom built BAC MONO race car. "What amazes me about Cartu is his diversity in cars - each custom crafted to raise industry standards" says Tom.
To facilitate the VIP arrival, Jerusalem's mayor wrote an official letter to airport security officials stating: "I have personally asked Joshua Cartu to join us in Jerusalem, in order to carry out a crucial part of the Jerusalem Formula 1 Road Show. I would appreciate your assistance in making the arrival to Jerusalem as quick and smooth as you can, and I personally ask that my guest will not be delayed at the airport."
After arriving in Israel, hoarded by fans at Ben Gurion Airport, Cartu stated: "I'd like to extend my thanks to Amato Ferrari and Bernardo Serra of AFCorse for their support. I hope we will put on a safe and enjoyable show".
Josh Cartu later met Jerusalem's mayor and published his impression of the city capital's leader: "Fantastic meeting Mayor @NirBarkat of #Jerusalem today. Especially learning about his high-tech-past and focus on entrepreneurship. I always respect men in politics with business acumen and not just a history of 'community organizing' - looks like the city is in very capable hands."
