Affordable Art Fair Seattle Showcases Thousands of Contemporary Works at Seattle Center Nov. 7-10

SEATTLE, Oct. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Affordable Art Fair Seattle opens to the public Thursday, Nov. 7, and organizers have amassed an incredible collection of galleries, events and activities for guests to enjoy during the four-day contemporary art fair at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. Now in its second year in Seattle, the fair provides local residents a unique opportunity to browse and shop among thousands of contemporary art pieces all under one roof, while also taking part in lectures, workshops, family activities and more. The showcase is part of the international Affordable Art Fair series produced in 15 cities annually, including major cultural hubs such as London, New York and Milan. The regionalized fairs offer an inspiring and friendly atmosphere, filled with thousands of paintings, prints, sculptures, photographs and other original contemporary artwork in a variety of mediums.

Fifty local and international galleries will showcase more than 2,000 pieces, all priced from $100 to $10,000, with more than half the pieces under $5,000. Participating Seattle-area galleries include: Abmeyer + Wood Fine Art; ArtXchange Gallery; Blindfold Gallery; Foster/White Gallery; G. Gibson Gallery; Gallery IMA; Hall Spassov Gallery; James Harris Gallery; Linda Hodges Gallery; LxWxH (Recent Graduates Exhibit); Patricia Rovzar Gallery Inc.; PLACE Contemporary; Red Reiter Gallery, and Wall Space Gallery.

In addition to artwork from local artists and around the world, featured fair activities include:

• Free Admission Evening (Friday, Nov. 8, 5-7pm) – all attendees get in free!
• Talks and Tours – all programs are free with admission and last approximately 30 minutes.
• Art Display 101 – Presenting your collection (Saturday, Nov. 9, 2pm) – presented by Artech, learn how to frame, display, hang and protect artwork, from paper to canvas to 3D objects.
• Artist Talk with Whiting Tennis (Saturday, Nov. 9, 3:30pm) – get up close and personal with one of Seattle's most prestigious artists, whose paintings, sculpture, and drawings are part of many important private collections and housed in several major Northwest museums.
• Recent Graduate Curator Talk with Sharon Arnold (Sunday, Nov. 10, 2pm) – at the Fair, the work of young, emerging artists hangs alongside some of the biggest household names; the Recent Graduates Exhibition provides a chance to snap up work by a future art world star. Meet with Sharon Arnold, founder and director of LxWxH gallery, as she explains the process behind the two emerging artists featured in her booth – Joe Rudko and Jared Bender. 
• Studio Syria (Sunday, Nov. 10, 3:30pm) – hear from Seattle artist Jean Bradbury as she narrates her recent trip to the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan. While there, Jean shared her love of art with the children and delivered art and educational supplies. She is now actively helping to promote the Studio Syria project.
• Children's Activities (Saturday, Nov. 9 and Sunday, Nov. 10, 11:30am) – The Junior League of Seattle will host hands-on discovery activities for children ages four and up. Experienced docents from the League's Northwest Art Project program will lead art-making activities and explore several pieces from the League's notable art collection.
• Inspiring Online Art – The newly launched Amazon Art is the headline sponsor for the Seattle fair, and visitors will be able to explore the new platform via touch-screen devices to sample the online art buying experience. Amazon Art's digital tools, such as the ability to view artwork in the scale of a room, or with different framing options online, are particularly useful to new art-buyers who visit the fair. 
• Wining and Dining – guests can also enjoy culinary offerings throughout the event, catered by award-winning caterer, FOODZ Catering, as well as a wine bar sponsored by The Hogue Cellars, one of Washington states most celebrated wineries. All food and beverage on site is available for purchase.

The Fair takes place at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall, Nov. 7-10. For the quickest entrance, guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at affordableartfair.com/seattle. Tickets are also available at the door. The cost for general admission is $10 per day, seniors and students $8 and children under 12 enter for free.
