"Advanced skills in psychology are in high demand, and not just for licensed clinical careers," said the article's lead researcher, Raj Dash. "For the period 2012 to 2022, the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) was predicting as high as 53% growth in jobs for some psychology professions -- particularly clinical psychologists. For the period 2014 to 2024, the figure is a more modest 19%. However that is about three times the U.S. national average for the same period, for all jobs. Both LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Psychologist) jobs and the combined category of mental health counselors and LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists) jobs each are expected to enjoy 19% growth in opportunities.

We queried for graduate institutions that grant degrees in "Psychology, General" or "Psychology, Other," on a distance basis, filtered out colleges that are based in U.S. protectorate nations, sorted by increasing out-of-state tuition, filtered out doctoral-only and certificate-only colleges, and filtered for active online masters degree programs. This resulted in our list of the 25 most affordable online masters programs in psychology.
