MONTREAL, April 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Les Huiles de Luxe Inc, a startup creating a unique collection of long-lasting, alcohol-free perfume oils, has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for their OLIO de Luxe collection, the company announced today.
The team hopes to raise $100,000 CAD to expand distribution across North America and provide a high-quality, affordable, and consciously-made alternative to traditional perfume brands.
OLIO de Luxe is ideal for everyday use for people of all ages. With scents that last significantly longer compared to existing perfumes, OLIO de Luxe's fragrances retain their scent for up to 12 hours per application. OLIO de Luxe's product line, which includes options for both women and men, is up to 90% perfume oil-based and doesn't contain the chemicals reported to cause allergic reactions like headaches, coughing, wheezing, and contact dermatitis found in some name brand products.
And because OLIO de Luxe's perfume oils are 100% alcohol-free, they don't evaporate or lose their scent like the majority of designer perfumes that only have a shelf life of 24 to 36 months.
"It's actually really difficult finding a high-quality, natural perfume that won't break the bank, and most national brands aren't worth the value on the price tag," OLIO de Luxe Founder Vincent Paul Fiola explained. "Customers have been unwittingly paying more for the company's fancy packaging, marketing, and overhead costs than for the actual perfume inside the bottles. We're changing all of that."
The company also takes a staunch, cruelty-free stance against animal testing, where approximately 100,000 to 200,000 animals are exploited for cosmetic testing alone around the world each year.
Prior to founding OLIO de Luxe, Fiola was a long time entrepreneur whose role overseeing production in the clothing industry was suddenly and unexpectedly disrupted following a string of bad luck.
"There was a point where I was surviving off of water for 7 days," Fiola said.
In the Fall of 2014, after having been forced to close the doors to several of his Canada-based retail shops and having his bank account drained by someone falsely claiming to be an investor, the Montreal native found himself over 1,500 miles from home, stranded in Dallas, Texas, without a dollar to his name.
"Without the faintest idea of what I was going to do next, I figured that regardless of what I'm going through, it's important to always project an air of success. I was fortunate enough to rely on a friend's generosity as far as shelter, so having the ability to stay well-groomed, wear clean clothes, and smell good was my solution to conveying that outward impression. But the reality was that I couldn't afford the $50 for a perfume of even average quality, which had me sheepishly asking yet another favor of my friend. This was when the lightning struck, so-to-speak, and I conceptualized OLIO de Luxe thanks to a combination of inspiration and necessity."
5 months later, Fiola found his way back home and teamed up with his current business partner France-Lyse Leblanc, who was waiting tables at the time. Channeling what he learned from the time spent living on limited means, Fiola and his partner devoted the better part of two years to living modestly, investing all the finances they could come by into the company, and carefully refining their product in anticipation of a public launch.
OLIO de Luxe officially launched their Kickstarter campaign on April 10, which will run through May 14. Backers can receive either "for her" or "for him" fragrance packages featuring 3 different scents per package starting at a $25 pledge level. Other Kickstarter-exclusive merchandise rewards include branded T-shirts, hats and portable clip-on cases. Rewards are expected to ship to backers by December 2017, just in time for the Holidays.
