GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Oct. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Agility Health, a leading provider of physical rehabilitation services to benefit patients, healthcare providers and employers, today announced the appointment of Joseph P. Hymes as chief operating officer.
Hymes' responsibilities include setting operational strategy and optimizing the core functions that support the Company's delivery of patient care, as well as its ongoing business development efforts. In addition to his oversight for Agility Health's centralized sales, marketing and administrative operations, Hymes is focused on ensuring seamless clinical performance across the Company's extensive array of service sites. He is also a key member of Agility Health's senior management team.

Prior to joining Agility Health, Hymes was senior regional vice president of operations for Sound Physicians, a leading Tacoma, Wash.-based hospitalist medical group, where his responsibilities included the completion of 12 new hospital start-ups in 26 months and facilitating major process improvement initiatives at each site.
Previously, Hymes was director of Michigan operations for Concentra Medical Centers, a national occupational medicine and urgent care practice management company, where he had oversight for 22 sites whose 66 providers and 300 employees served 2,500 patients per day. In addition to exceeding key financial and clinical performance metrics, Hymes was instrumental in the successful introduction of an urgent care service line and new organizational culture initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Hymes led the occupational medicine subsidiary of Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Emergency Physicians Medical Group, P.C., an emergency medicine staffing company, where he oversaw more than 90 percent growth in revenue during his tenure. In addition to managing existing and de novo medical center expansion, he implemented new practice management software systems and significantly improved patient satisfaction. Previously, from 1978 to 1994, Hymes oversaw operations and sales for multiple Michigan- and Pennsylvania-based occupational medicine facilities operated by Detroit Industrial Clinics (DIC) and its affiliates, which were subsequently purchased by Detroit Medical Center (DMC). In addition to providing leadership to key business units supporting more than 200 physicians and support staff and 208,000 patient visits, Hymes played a key role in the integration of DIC into DMC's culture and processes.
Hymes' professional and board affiliations include the American College of Healthcare Executives, Society of Hospitalist Medicine and National Association of Occupational Health Professionals. He holds a bachelor's degree in general science, with a concentration in neurosciences, and a Master of Public Health degree in health care administration from the University of Rochester in New York.
