PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Agora, Inc., a communications as a service (CaaS) provider enabling enterprises to add premium real-time communications to mobile and web applications through a simple, powerful SDK, today announced the company will publish a Chinese version of the seminal book "WebRTC: APIs and RTCWEB Protocols of the HTML5 Real-Time Web" at the inaugural Real Time Web Solutions Conference in Beijing, China on November 10-11, 2015 (website). The conference is produced by TMC, Systemwide Media, PKE Consulting and Agora.
Initially released in 2012 with a third edition published in 2014, "WebRTC: APIs and RTCWEB Protocols of the HTML5 Real-Time Web" was the first book on open Web Real-Time Communications technology. The authors, Dr. Alan B. Johnston and Dr. Daniel C. Burnett, together have decades of Web, VoIP, SIP, speech technology and Internet communications experience. The authors are prominent members and authors of key specifications at the two organizations standardizing WebRTC, with Alan Johnston serving on the IETF RTCWEB working group and Daniel Burnett serving as editor of the W3C WEBRTC specification and participating in the IETF RTCWEB working group.
WebRTC was introduced as an open source project led by Google, Mozilla and Opera and was joined later by many other companies, including Cisco, Intel, Oracle, AT&T and Microsoft. The Google WebRTC team commented, "WebRTC was released as an open source project for real-time communication in 2011. Within four years, it has become a global platform enabling more than 700 companies and projects to deliver innovative RTC services on the Web and mobile. We are very happy that Chinese developers now have a native guide for WebRTC development."
Agora worked directly on the Chinese translation with the authors, Alan Johnston and Daniel Burnett, who said, "The Internet and the World Wide Web changed our world and, over the past four years, WebRTC has gone on to change the foundation for global real-time communications." Johnston and Burnett went on to say, "We are very pleased that Agora has published the first Chinese version of our WebRTC book, providing Chinese speakers everywhere a more accessible guide and reference to WebRTC."
Tony Zhao, CEO of Agora and publisher of the newly translated book, said, "The next frontier for global Web developers is integrating real-time voice and video communications into their applications. WebRTC is a key emerging technology for all Web and app developers and we are pleased to publish the first Chinese version of the best technical book on WebRTC, written by the experts."
