BOSTON, Feb. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AisleBuyer LLC, the innovator of mobile checkout solutions, announced today that it has appointed Dan Preston as chief technology officer. As AisleBuyer's CTO, Preston is tasked with leading the technology team and executing strategic technical initiatives.
Preston, currently on sabbatical from Stanford University, has previously worked for Google and Harvard University. Prior to these positions, Preston also co-founded and served as CTO of technology startup Photrade.
"I believe that great companies are often the results of original thinking, and given the future ubiquity of mobile devices, there are a number of opportunities to re-imagine the retail experience," said Preston. "With a solid team already in place, AisleBuyer is in a great position to expand its footprint and bring mobile self-checkout technology to more retailers and consumers now and in the future."
As a postgraduate research assistant at Harvard, Preston developed a method to analyze data from billions of stars to discover interesting events such as microlensing and exosolar planets. Additionally, his work as a research assistant at Tufts University on redefining data classes used for scientific research is having direct impact on research in the Department of Geography and Environment at Boston University.
"The addition of Dan as CTO strengthens both our leadership team and our technology team," said Andrew Paradise, CEO of AisleBuyer. "We're moving at lightning speed, and having Dan driving our technology efforts will keep AisleBuyer as the leader in providing innovative mobile shopping technologies to retailers and restaurants around the globe."
