Ajlouny Injury Law Lauds Zadroga Act as a Victory for NYC 9/11 First Responders
NEW YORK, Jan. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On January 2nd 2011 President Obama signed The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, named in honor of a NYC police officer that died from respiratory disease he contracted while conducting the 9/11 rescue efforts.
Victims and their families can breathe easier, literally and figuratively, knowing they are eligible for compensation and health benefits under the Zadroga Act.
Our Zadroga Act lawyers have been monitoring the progress of this important legislation and are available to discuss how it will affect those whose health has been compromised by the events of September 11, 2001.
If you are a first responder, a downtown resident, or a construction worker who worked at Ground Zero and have developed cancer, lung disease, asthma, sinus, sleep apnea, or any other chronic health condition resulting from toxic exposure you may qualify for compensation and medical benefits.
Compensation and benefits may also be available to you if you suffer from any of the emotional and mental health issues that have plagued many WTC victims including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia and substance abuse.
"Thanks to the relentless efforts of New York lawmakers and victims' advocates, those who answered the call on that terrible day won't have to worry about getting the care they need. We will do everything possible to see that those who stood up for us on that day, and the days and weeks that followed get the care and compensation they deserve. It's our turn to stand up for them," said Neil Flynn, an attorney representing police officers and firemen.
"We were all affected by the events of 9/11, but none more so than those who ran towards the collapsing towers when everyone else was running away. Many first responders, along with construction workers and those who lived and worked in lower Manhattan are still suffering the effects of the toxic debris to which they were exposed. Thanks to the 9/11 Zadroga Act, we’ll make sure they get the best care,” said Mr. Flynn.
