An executive from Alcantara's trend and design department, will be one of five automotive people serving as competition judges during the final phase of the CDN-GM Interactive Design Competition. Other professionals will serve as online mentors to student participants and give guidance and advice throughout the program.
Students will be asked to design against briefs set by each of GM's four brands: Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC. Winners of the social-media-based competition will receive paid internships at GM's Michigan-based headquarters.
Finalists in each brand competition will be invited to attend the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Mich., next January, where their entries will be on display. Winners will be announced on GM's stand during the auto show.
Full-time students at design schools in the U.S. and Canada are eligible to enter the competition. To foster creative concepts, GM has united with Car Design News, the leading web resource for automotive designers, to help students develop through the use of interactivity and social media and refine their designs.
