Alchem International Expands Production Capacity of its 60% USP Sennosides System

Alchem International Ltd. announces the inauguration of its expanded Neemrana, India, facility dedicated exclusively to the production of Sennosides USP. Sennosides, extracted from senna leaves and pods, are used as laxatives in traditional and modern medicine preparations.

"Expansion of our facility was necessary to answer the growing demand for 60% USP Sennosides. The fully automated facility has a production capacity of more than 75 metric tons per year," states Raman Mehta, President of Alchem International Ltd. "Alchem's facility also incorporates a state-of-the-art laboratory control able to test USP monographs and to support our customers with Drug Master File requirements."

The company applies a fully integrated production process, from cultivating its own senna leaves and pods to producing its own energy from the byproducts of its Sennoside extraction. Alchem's facility is GMP-certified and regularly audited by international customers as well as officials such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
