Alexander Babakov Appointed Special Presidential Representative on the Cooperation with Organizations of Russians Abroad
MOSCOW, June 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Alexander Babakov has been appointed Special Presidential Representative to Russians living abroad by President Vladimir Putin. A. Babakov is currently the representative of the All-Russian People's Front, member of the Russian Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Duma's Commission on legal support of defence organizations, and a member of the faction "United Russia".
Babakov will draft a plan of priority actions to be taken for the improvement of relations with fellow countrymen living abroad- a very important area of Russia's foreign policy.
He noted that during his position as a special envoy to the President, he intends to work closely with the Russian Foreign Ministry and other agencies, as well take instruction and recommendations to best improve "the State Policy of the Russian Federation for Russians abroad."
"Russia is always open for constructive interaction and cooperation with compatriots who live in all parts of the world and retain links with their historical motherland," - said Babakov. "Protecting the rights of Russians, including the preservation and support of national, cultural and linguistic identity will be one of the top priorities of my work in this position."
