MOSCOW, June 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Alexander Babakov, Russian State Duma deputy, and member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs has said a window of opportunity for a 'Belgrade-Moscow' alliance exists, in an article in Moscow publication Moskovsky Komsomolets today.
Babakov, noting that Serbian trade with Russia reached the 4 billion Euros mark, claimed that there are now "prospects for economic cooperation, in banking and investment", and that opportunities exist in both the energy and agriculture sectors.
"The duty-free trade between our two countries should be maintained and expanded. Involvement of Russian investment and the creation of a favourable climate for Russian companies in Serbia should be the main concerns of our cooperation."
Babakov stated that the election of Tomislav Nikolic, as the new President of Serbia is a positive thing for improved relations. Babakov believes that "window of opportunity in the "Belgrade-Moscow" alliance has now increased" and he is sure "that President Nikolic will not waste time to implement them".
