Marcus, were honored to receive the 2020 Navy SEAL Foundation Patriot Award. This recognition highlights Alexandria's contributions to our nation and unwavering support for the Naval Special Warfare community, as well as its embodiment of the values that epitomize the SEAL community. Congressional Medal of Honor recipient and retired U.S. Navy Master Chief Special Warfare Operator Britt Slabinski presented the prestigious award to Mr. Marcus yesterday evening during the Navy SEAL Foundation's 12th annual New York City Benefit Dinner celebrating the Foundation's 20th anniversary.
Serving as a Trident Sponsor for the event, Alexandria joined patriots, partners, colleagues and friends to recognize the tremendous courage, commitment and sacrifices of the U.S. Navy SEALs, the Naval Special Warfare community and their families. The New York City event supports the Navy SEAL Foundation's critical mission to provide immediate and ongoing support and assistance to this vitally important community and their families. The evening featured keynote speaker and special guest retired U.S. Navy Four-Star Admiral William H. McRaven.
"Alexandria and Joel's tireless support of the Navy SEAL Foundation has and continues to have a significant impact on the health and welfare of our elite warriors and their families," said Robin King, chief executive officer of the Navy SEAL Foundation. "The entire Alexandria team has shown a tremendous passion for helping improve the lives of our military families. This award is a testament to their extraordinary contributions to our country and their upholding of the values of the SEAL community, and we are pleased to recognize Alexandria and Joel with this well-deserved honor."
"On behalf of the women and men who make up the Alexandria family, we are deeply humbled, honored and blessed to accept the prestigious 20th anniversary Patriot Award," said Mr. Marcus. "We are profoundly grateful to those in the armed services and their families who have sacrificed so much for the sake of their missions, the defense of our nation and the safeguarding of our freedoms, which we can never take for granted. We all have a responsibility to ensure that our national heroes remain healthy and resilient and that, along with their families, they receive the tools they need to live full, productive and happy lives."
Alexandria and Mr. Marcus have actively supported the Navy SEAL Foundation since 2010, including serving as the chair of the New York City Benefit in 2017. Both Mr. Marcus and former Navy SEAL Tony Duynstee, vice president of strategic operations at Alexandria, serve as members of the Navy SEAL Foundation board of directors.
