All BayCare-Sponsored Graduate Medical Education Programs Receive Remarkable 100% Match

CLEARWATER, Fla., March 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Match Day 2025 made one thing clear: new residents want to be part of BayCare's pursuit of clinical excellence. All our BayCare-sponsored Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs received a 100% match for Match Day. More than 170 health care leaders of the future, including resident physicians and fellows, have joined us to make BayCare their GME home. This brings the total to nearly 300 doctors currently in BayCare Residency programs.

Future physicians are taking the next step in their medical careers at BayCare.

Each year for Match Day, the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) shares residency and fellowship application results. The NRMP and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Electronic Residency Application System partner to ensure a standardized process to pair qualified candidates with residency programs.

The national physician shortage has been at critical levels since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, it is common for residents to practice in the communities where they are trained. Many of these residents are Floridians who feel a sense of responsibility to keep their fellow Floridians healthy. This is a vital reason BayCare began its GME journey five years ago.
