Allegheny Health Network Joins U.S. Olympic Committee National Medical Network as an Official U.S. Olympic Regional Medical Center

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Allegheny Health Network has been designated an Official U.S. Olympic Regional Medical Center, joining a national network of six leading medical providers selected by the United States Olympic Committee to provide comprehensive medical services to elite Team USA athletes, including orthopedics and sports medicine, primary care, cardiovascular care, neurosurgery, physical therapy, and more.

The USOC launched the National Medical Network in 2013 to support Team USA by providing convenient, high-quality services for elite athletes and plans to develop and expand the network to best meet the performance objectives of U.S. Olympic and Paralympic competitors.

Allegheny Health Network, as a Regional Medical Center, will serve in the USOC Medical Network alongside the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, N.Y., the first organization to be designated as a National Medical Center by the USOC, and four other Regional Medical Centers: Memorial Hospital, part of University of Colorado Health and the Colorado Center of Orthopedic Excellence, both in Colorado Springs, Colo.; Adirondack Health of Saranac Lake, N.Y.; and Lake Placid Sports Medicine in Lake Placid, N.Y.
