Indeed, Over-the-Top TV and WebTV rely on a variety of equipment and systems that lie outside the headend. This includes streaming servers, conditional access systems and network equipment involved in the public internet.

In the current Over-the-Top TV and WebTV system landscape, video program monitoring is generally carried out at various points at the headend, but until today, most of monitoring mosaic generators were based on SDI or Transport Stream inputs. Consequently, once a program has been converted to any of the existing Over-the-Top TV or WebTV formats, it is released in the wild and the ability to monitor it at the headend is lost.
