Alliance Announces Keynote Speakers for its September Signature Event
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Electric Utility Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (Alliance) announced today the keynote speakers for the Alliance's Signature Event to be held September 24-25, 2014 at the Orlando World Center Marriott. The theme of the event is "Powering Business Value Through Sustainability".
Dr. James Fava, Chief Sustainability Strategist with PE International, Inc. will moderate the keynote session. Terry F. Yosie, President & CEO of the World Environment Center (WEC) and Michael Muyot, President and Founder of CRD Analytics, will present perspectives on the business value of sustainability, approaches to improving performance, and the key trends which are making it a critical aspect of performance for companies today and into the future.
Dr. Yosie has held senior-level management positions in government, corporate and consulting organizations. WEC's principal areas of focus have included climate change and energy efficiency, enterprise development, greening the supply chain, innovation, and preparing future business leaders to implement sustainability. While at the American Petroleum Institute he developed and implemented strategies to achieve the global non-profit organization's mission to implement sustainable development through the business strategies and operations of global companies in partnership with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, universities and other stakeholders. He served as Vice President at the American Chemistry Council from 1999-2005. He managed a global CEO Task Force in 2004-2005 to develop the Responsible Care Global Charter to improve chemical industry performance in 52 countries. He has worked with a wide range of clients such as BASF, British Petroleum, Pfizer, and Philips Electronics. At BP he advised the company on climate change issues that led to a new strategy announced in 1997 by the CEO John Browne. He received his Doctorate in Humanities and Social Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University in 1981.
Mr. Muyot is an acknowledged leader in Sustainable Investing and developed a unique set of tools that is helping to drive the industry. He designed the SmartView 360 Platform which powers sustainability indexes, rankings and research reports; including the NASDAQ CRD Global Sustainability Index (QCRD), the Global 1000 Sustainable Performance Leaders on Justmeans and the Southeastern Corporate Sustainability Rankings. A Fellow of the Governance & Accountability Institute, Mr. Muyot has been interviewed as an innovating leader on Sustainability & Investing by Fortune, CFO Magazine, Financial Executive International, IR Magazine, and The Economist & Wired Magazine. He has also been cited in The Green Economy, Green Nurture and regularly contributes to Justmeans which is the premier social media platform for sustainability. He joined the Advisory Board of StockSmart to develop Social Ratings and introduce "next-generation ESG" to guide portfolio managers on Impact Investing and assist with proxy voting while increasing corporate transparency and identifying strategic risks and investment opportunities. Mr. Muyot earned a Masters, Economics, Econometrics, and Statistics from City University of New York-Hunter College in 1992.
