Allied Telesis Introduces the SwitchBlade 6000S Series to Optimize High-Availability, Multilayer Core Connectivity
Delivering Network Scalability, Next-Generation Modular Core Chassis Enables a Powerful End-to-End Network
LAS VEGAS, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Interop Las Vegas, Booth #2543 -- Allied Telesis, Inc., a global provider of secure IP/Ethernet switching solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of converged multi-play networks, today announced the SwitchBlade 6000S Series. This family of multilayer switches is designed to support the increasing traffic demands at the core of today's IP networks. Allied Telesis will preview the SwitchBlade 6000S Series at Interop 2010 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 27–29, at the Company's booth, #2543.
The SwitchBlade 6000S Series broadens the Allied Telesis product portfolio to include modular chassis core solutions ideal for linking edge and distribution layer switches. This new family of core modular switches is intended for enterprise and service-provider networks, enabling connectivity bandwidth and services needed at the center of large networks. The SwitchBlade 6000S Series supports seamless, reliable, energy-efficient, end-to-end networks coupled with the design flexibility to easily scale up to terabit speeds.
"The SwitchBlade 6000S Series is the next step in our evolution as a conscientious innovator responding to the needs of our customers," said Dael Bartlett, product strategy and marketing director, Allied Telesis, Inc. "We have always had a strong set of solutions at the edge of the network, and the introduction of the Switchblade 6000S Series adds to the network core the same level of reliability and capabilities our customers have experienced in our access and aggregation devices."
The SwitchBlade 6000S Series modular design guarantees scalability and ensures high network availability through the isolation of module failures. Separate modules dedicated to both device management and packet processing provide the flexibility to add bandwidth as needed on a per-slot basis. The base chassis systems are available in three sizes, providing the appropriate port density and bandwidth depending on specific customer requirements.
The SwitchBlade 6000S Series operates as the network backbone to ensure reliable and timely transport of critical data throughout the network. This guarantees service availability of mission-critical applications as the network grows to support many thousands of users.
Designed to support IPv4 and IPv6, the SwitchBlade 6000S future-proofs the investment of customers who need to be ready for IPv6 within the long operational lifetime typically seen in installations of advanced core products. In addition, the SwitchBlade 6000S Series supports virtual routing functionality (VRF) to enable distinct networks to work together as one system. For example, in the case of a merger or acquisition, this chassis can map two networks seamlessly despite overlapping Internet protocol (IP) addresses.
