Al's Angels Thanksgiving Drive to Bring Holiday Meals to Hundreds of Children and Families in Desperate Need

NORWALK, Conn., Nov. 11, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Al's Angels, a non-profit, charitable organization founded by Westport, CT resident and Zeta Interactive CEO Al DiGuido, will begin its 6th annual Thanksgiving Meal Distribution this weekend, when it will provide families in the Tri-State area battling childhood cancer, rare blood diseases, and severe financial distress with bountiful meal bins.

A team of more than 400 Al's Angels volunteers will gather early this Saturday at the Builders Beyond Borders building at 8 Willard Road in Norwalk, CT to assemble over 1,000 Thanksgiving bins.  After the assembly, select Al's Angels volunteers will load the contents into five delivery trucks and personally deliver bins to families in desperate need throughout the Tri-State area. Distribution locations for effort will be Saint Barnabas Hospital, Columbia Presbyterian, Saint Vincent's Hospital, Mercy Learning Center, Tomorrow's Children's Fund, Clasp Homes, Malta House, Union Community Health as well as area churches.

Each bin contains a Thanksgiving holiday assortment of food and a gift card from a local supermarket for the holiday turkey or ham. In total, there is over $100 worth of goods in each package. The Builders Beyond Borders facility is being made available thanks to the generous support of the Gault family. Food items have been purchased thru a close relationship between Al's Angels and the Wakefern Shoprite organization.

This event marks the first of many holiday outreach missions for Al's Angels in the tri-state area. Over the next month, the Angels will reach those in need  in New Jersey, Long Island, Harlem and  Brooklyn, delivering holiday gifts and bringing joy to thousands of needy families throughout the tri-state area.  Last year, more than 750 needy families in the tri-state area received Thanksgiving meals from Al's Angels, and the organization provide over 2,000 gifts to suffering children over the holiday season.  This year's effort will reach over 2000 families with holiday meals between thanksgiving and year end and provide nearly 5000 children with holiday toys.

Through its work with several year-round initiatives such as this year's annual Thanksgiving Meal distribution effort, as well the annual Holiday Toy Drive, "Angels in July" summer event, "24 Hours of Hope" exercise fundraiser, and many others,  Al's Angels has earned a reputation as one of the Tri-State area's most influential charity organizations geared toward providing financial and emotional support to children and families suffering from hardship due to life-threatening illnesses or poverty.

Al's Angels has also partnered with other organizations such as the Tomorrow's Children Fund, St. Barnabus Hospital of the Bronx, Union Community Health Center of the Bronx, CLASP Homes of Westport and Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport, to provide children with much needed assistance.  The organization has also built a loyal following of more than 800 Angels' volunteers that travel and lend hands-on support to Al's Angels events and charity drives throughout the year.
