Alteris Renewables Recognized for Excellence in Commercial Solar

WILTON, Conn., Feb. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The top renewable energy integrator in the Northeast, Alteris Renewables, Inc., received an Intelegant Award for commercial solar installation from SunPower Corp, a leading manufacturer of the world's highest efficiency solar cells and systems. Given annually to one SunPower dealer on the basis of aesthetic design, quality, and performance, the award honored the 73.2kW SunPower solar array on the Hartford, CT headquarters of insurance giant Aetna.

For the LEED-certified Aetna facility, Alteris engineers designed custom solar awnings using 240 SunPower E18 Series solar panels that integrate with the granite facade of the building. Coupled with another Alteris-installed solar array on the company's Atrium building, Aetna is generating an estimated 237,789 kilowatt hours of power each year.

Since being installed, the entire solar power system has generated 117% of the estimated expected output.
