LAS VEGAS, April 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Vitamin C is everywhere. It's in various whole foods. It's added to many processed foods. Vitamin C tablets, capsules, powders and liquids are available at thousands of pharmacies, supermarkets, warehouse clubs and websites. Yet, the CEO of Altrient, Inc., maker of high-performance Altrient™ C, says that when it comes to vitamin C, consumers have almost no choice at all.

"Most people know that vitamin C is 'good for you,'" said Cindy Nachman. "They know it's necessary for good health and that they should take a vitamin C supplement every day just to make sure they get enough. But most people think all vitamin C is the same. They don't know that all vitamin C is not created equal. And they don't know they can choose a vitamin C that's created better."
Nachman believes having a clear choice is important because vitamin C is critical to achieving and maintaining optimal health. Vitamin C is known as a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the body from toxins in foods and the environment, as well as the toxic byproducts of the body's own metabolic processes. It also plays an important role in repairing and preserving skin, muscle, connective and vascular tissues.
"Most people don't know that the majority of the 'ordinary' vitamin C you get from your diet and from supplements is degraded or destroyed by the harsh digestive juices in the stomach," Nachman continued. "The degraded vitamin C is not efficiently absorbed into your bloodstream, and much of it simply passes out of your body as waste. Only a fraction of the ordinary vitamin C you take finally makes it into your bloodstream. This is nowhere near enough to satisfy your body's needs. So, that means your body is constantly starving for vitamin C."
According to Nachman, simply taking more ordinary vitamin C doesn't solve the problem. "Your body can only absorb a certain amount of ordinary vitamin C in a given time period and the more of it you take, the less of it your body actually absorbs," she said. "This only results in more wasted product, more wasted money and little or no additional benefits. And all of that wasted vitamin C can cause some nasty intestinal problems."
"So, we set out to create a better vitamin C supplement," Nachman said. "One that would pass unharmed through the stomach, bypass the body's vitamin C absorption barrier and enter directly into the bloodstream. We also wanted to ensure that virtually all of our vitamin C would make it into the bloodstream and that virtually none of it would be wasted. The result was Altrient™ C."
Nachman's company adapted liposome encapsulation technology to provide a protective vehicle for its new vitamin C supplement. This technology was developed decades ago by the pharmaceutical industry. But, until recently, it had been used almost exclusively by doctors and researchers to administer a relatively small number of esoteric therapies.
"Altrient™ C uses our proprietary Liposome Encapsulated Delivery (LED) system, which encases tiny amounts of vitamin C in microscopic bubbles called liposomes," Nachman explained. "These liposomes protect the vitamin C from being destroyed or degraded during digestion. Because the body doesn't recognize the vitamin C sealed inside the liposomes, it completely bypasses the absorption barrier. And because the liposomes are so small, they can pass right through the intestinal walls and directly into the bloodstream."
Once in the bloodstream, Nachman said the liposomes transport their vitamin C throughout the body. "Your cells just love liposomes. They break them down and use the liposome material to repair their membranes and other internal structures. When this happens, the vitamin C inside is released and absorbed directly into your cells – right where it's needed the most."
Nachman said LED is considered one of the most effective methods of delivering oral nutrients. She believes LED enables Altrient™ C to provide a level of performance that is unequaled by any other ordinary vitamin C supplement on the market.
"That's why Altrient™ C is the best vitamin C available," stated Nachman. "It delivers high-dose, high-potency vitamin C – far more vitamin C than you can possibly get from your daily diet or from ordinary supplements. In order for you to get the same amount of vitamin C that's in one packet of Altrient™ C into your bloodstream, you would have to drink 240 four-ounce glasses of orange juice. That's two and a half gallons per day."
Nachman insists the superior value of Altrient™ C far outweighs its additional cost. She pointed to a comparison between Altrient™ C and a popular powdered vitamin C supplement. A box of 30, 1,000 mg single-serving powder packets costs about $15.00 or 50 cents per serving. However, the instructions recommend "one packet 2 to 4 times a day" for an average daily cost of $1.00 to $2.00 per day.
"The powdered product requires multiple daily doses," Nachman stated. "It contains ordinary vitamin C that is not protected by liposomes, so a significant portion of each dose will not be available for use in your body. But a single 1,000 mg packet of Altrient™ C with LED provides the full benefits of high-dose, high-potency vitamin C for $1.33 per day. It delivers a much higher level of performance and value at a highly competitive price."
Altrient™ C is available at Altrient.com and facebook.com/Altrient. Altrient™ C is delivered in cartons of 30 single-serving packets. Each Altrient™ C packet of 0.2 fluid ounces (5.7 mL) contains 1,000 mg of vitamin C and 1,000 mg of essential phospholipids. To learn more, go to www.altrient.com or call 1-888-437-6353.
