Altus Power Brings Solar Power to Atlantic County, New Jersey School District
GREENWICH, Conn., Feb. 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Altus Power America proudly announces the completion of two solar power systems, one at the Atlantic County Institute of Technology and the other at the Atlantic County Special Services School, both located in Mays Landing, NJ. The two systems totaling 600 kW were installed by Dobtol Construction, a Hackensack, NJ based Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Company.
The Atlantic County School District, while offsetting carbon emissions, will also enjoy a discounted electricity price compared to that of the utility. The combined two systems are expected to produce over 800,000 kWh of electricity annually. This will offset about 550 metric tons of carbon dioxide, or the equivalent of burning 600,000 pounds of coal. "The Atlantic County Schools (ACIT and ACSSSD) are proud to embrace solar power, a renewable energy source, and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. We look forward to the financial and environmental benefits of this clean energy source and believe our students will be the true long-term benefactors of this project. Our Board of Education and employees continue to be committed to improving lives by providing quality programs and protecting the environment that we all share," said Dr. Philip Guenther, ACSSSD Superintendent. The completion of these projects comes just a few weeks after completion of three public school projects in New Brunswick, NJ. "The partnership between Altus Power and public schools is a natural partnership of mutual benefit," said Cela Sinay, Managing Director at Altus Power America Management.
