Amazon setting-up and recruiting massively in Burgundy

Marc Benner, President of Burgundy Development Agency, is happy to announce Amazon is to set up operations in Burgundy. And particularly since this project should create 450 jobs within a year. A real opportunity in these times of crisis. 'We accepted the challenge of attracting business. Amazon opted for Burgundy although it was in competition with several regions of France. Amazon will use the Burgundy logistics base south of Chalon-sur-Saône, in the Distripôle Val de Bourgogne business park close to the A6 motorway, to store its thousands of catalogue items and distribute them throughout France.

Burgundy's success story

Marc Benner explains the keys to Burgundy's success: « Amazon got in touch with Burgundy Development Agency through the Invest France Agency for which we are the sole contact in Burgundy. We were in competition with other French and foreign regions.  To stay in the running and give ourselves every chance of winning, we drew up a brief of Amazon France's project with its senior management, listing their technical, human resources and logistical requirements. In the course of our exchanges we refined the list of their requirements to prepare the second and decisive stage, the visit to the region. Through our intermediation which relies on the tried and tested networks of Invest Burgundy and of Burgundy's economic actors, Amazon's senior management found a solution for setting-up business that was right for them. Just three months elapsed from the first contact through to the final decision being taken. Reactivity that paid off. In December 2012, Amazon hopes to recruit the 450 full-time employees who will man their new logistics platform.
