AME UAS Releases New Version of SharkFin® Mission Management and Control Software
SharkFin® Sets New Standard for "Point-N-Click" 3-D and Real-Time Management of Multiple UAS and Payloads
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., May 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AME Unmanned Air Systems (AME UAS), a ChandlerMay company, announces the release of SharkFin® Basic UAS mission planning software. SharkFin® Basic is a STANAG 4586 compliant, multi-vehicle, Core UAV Control System (CUCS), which also gives full UAV three-dimensional situational awareness.
SharkFin® provides interfaces and information so that UAS mission operators can plan and monitor multiple UAVs in real-time situations and real-world environments. Mission planning is achieved with unique threat decision aids, integrated route planning tools, and payload simulation capabilities - all in one integrated package.
"We are very pleased to release a commercial version of Sharkfin®. The software allows users to plan UAS ISR missions which enable actionable intelligence for today's Warfighter. SharkFin® Basic also provides a platform for the development of more advanced ISR mission management software solutions tailored to specific customer requirements," said John Purvis, President and CEO of AME UAS.
The capabilities of SharkFin® Basic were derived from careful analysis of UAV requirements and from AME UAS's experience building and supporting operational unmanned systems. The three fundamental needs of mission operators, relevant situational awareness, intuitive decision aids, and appropriate levels of automation, have been met in the newly released package.
SharkFin® meets the demands of mission planning environments by balancing the strengths of computers and humans, combining the cognitive abilities and "real-world" insight of humans with the computational power of advanced algorithms.
"SharkFin® Basic establishes the foundation of our UAS mission planning with a Core UAV Control System and user-centric interface that is modular and scalable to multiple STANAG compliant airframes. Its plug-in architecture and design also lends itself to various service interfaces and control of multiple sensor platforms," added Jeffrey Getzlaff, AME UAS's Manager of Software Systems.
SharkFin® Basic is complete mission planning software and is offered free to the UAS community upon request. To request a copy, send an email to [email protected], along with a short description of your application or interest.
