Ameren Illinois Announces Act On Energy Take the Pledge Giveaway

PEORIA, Ill., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Ameren Illinois electricity and natural gas customers now have an opportunity to win twice when they enter the Ameren Illinois Act On Energy® Take the Pledge Giveaway.

"Just by taking the pledge, our customers will be winners when they save money on their energy bills. In addition, Take the Pledge Giveaway entrants have a chance to win a major appliance of their choice or one of two home improvement store gift certificates," said Stan Ogden, Ameren Illinois vice president of Customer Service & Public Relations.

"Our customers are making a very real difference when they take the pledge," Ogden said. "Pledge results for 2009-10 show that Ameren Illinois customers will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 46 million pounds, cut electricity usage by more than 25 million kilowatt-hours and reduce natural gas usage by nearly 61 billion British thermal units. In all, customers will save more than $3.6 million on their energy bills."

Ameren Illinois customers enter by pledging to take an energy efficiency step, such as replacing one incandescent light with a high-efficiency compact fluorescent light (CFL) or going further by replacing all old lights with CFLs or installing a high-efficiency natural gas furnace.

The grand prize winner will be able to select an Energy Star qualified appliance valued at up to $2,000. The first prize and second prize winners will receive a $300 and $100 home improvement store gift certificates respectively.
