American Airlines Federal Credit Union Awards 2012 Scholarships
FORT WORTH, Texas, June 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- This year, the American Airlines Federal Credit Union is pleased to once again award a total of six scholarships: five high school students and one college student each received $5,000 scholarships. The AA Credit Union has supported its young member-owners with scholarship award opportunities for higher education.
The 2012 AA Credit Union Scholarship recipients were chosen from 247 applicants, all young member-owners across the country. Two selection committees comprised of various Credit Union staff members reviewed applications consisting of essays and listings of academic and extracurricular achievements.
"Every year, we have no shortage of deserving, talented young people to choose from, which makes our job of narrowing down our recipients a very difficult task," said Lori Hall, Senior Vice President – Marketing and Operations at AA Credit Union. "It's wonderful to know that we have such a pool of talented and accomplished young people in the Credit Union family, and we're exceedingly proud to lend a hand in their educational futures."
The recipients of the 2012 AA Credit Union Scholarship are:
James Blonde, 18, of Elk Grove Village, Ill., who will be attending Notre Dame and is pursuing a career in engineering.
Matthew Ferguson, 18, of North Richland Hills, Texas, who will be attending Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., and wants a career in chemical engineering.
Brent Hannema, 17, of Oxford, N.J., who will be attending Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, Md., and plans a career in accounting.
Kyle Neustrom, 18, of West Des Moines, Iowa, who will be attending Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., and aspires to a medical career.
Shannon Sullivan, 17, of Bedford, Texas, who will be attending the University of Texas at Austin and plans to pursue a career in undergraduate studies focusing on Physical Science.
Kendy Real, 29, of Baldwin, N.Y., who will enter the Respiratory Care Program at Stony Brook University in New York.
