American Bar Association Releases 2010 Legal Technology Guide
Latest Edition of ABA Book Helps Solos and Small Firm Lawyers Choose The Right Technology
FAIRFAX, Va., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Bar Association (ABA) has recently released the 2010 Solo and Small Firm Legal Technology Guide: Critical Decisions Made Simple.
Written by Sharon D. Nelson, Esq. and John W. Simek, President and Vice President of Sensei Enterprises, Inc., in collaboration with Michael Maschke, Sensei's Director of Computer Forensics, the third edition of this annual guide offers the latest information and recommendations on computers, servers, networking equipment, legal software, printers, security products, smart phones, and anything a single lawyer or a small law office might need.
In the book's introduction, Ross L. Kodner, Esq. calls the guide "a compelling and ESSENTIAL read. The authors once again build on prior editions by delivering a plain-English, easily-read legal technology roadmap for every single solo and small firm on the planet. And frankly, BigLaw should be reading this book as well -- virtually every concept here describes technology tools and systems essential for lawyers in all walks of practice."
Specific topics covered in the 2010 Legal Technology Guide include:
- A complete, unbiased overview of current legal technology products
- Step-by-step instructions for making sound technology decisions
- How to choose the right operating system and software for your office, including case management applications, billing systems, and document management solutions
- A guide to determining what you need to go wireless
- How to protect your firm from security threats, including viruses, spyware, and spam
- The legal implications of social media
- And much more!
"As comprehensive as the book is," says Sharon D. Nelson, "readers sometimes need clarification about some of the book's recommendations, and we're always happy to answer any additional questions they might have. Readers can e-mail their questions to [email protected]."
The book is priced at $89.95 ($54.95 for members of the ABA's Law Practice Management Section) and is available through the ABA's web site store at http://www.abanet.org.
