American Nurses Credentialing Center Announces Results of Landmark Magnet® 3.0 Study at Magnet & Pathway Conference™

New findings reaffirm Magnet® designation's impact on outcomes and identify practical opportunities to evolve the Magnet Model for today's workforce and care environments 

ATLANTA, Oct. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) today announced the results of the Magnet 3.0 study at the Magnet & Pathway Conference™ in Atlanta, Georgia. The mixed-methods study examined the Magnet Recognition Program® and Magnet Model through comprehensive literature reviews, a large international survey, and in-depth stakeholder interviews to ensure the model remains evidence-based and globally relevant.

The Commission on Magnet® supported by the American Nurses Enterprise Institute for Nursing Research and Quality Management ensured the research was conducted by a team of independent leading nurse researchers. The study found that most published research associates Magnet recognition with favorable nurse, patient, organizational, and economic outcomes, with particularly strong evidence around nurse and organizational measures.

The analysis also confirmed strong associations between key Magnet Model components and improved organizational performance. Survey feedback from 2,528 respondents and interviews with 27 stakeholders underscored the program's signal of excellence, while encouraging thoughtful updates that reflect evolving practice, technology, and workforce realities.

The report recommends preserving the strengths of the Magnet Model while updating criteria and guidance to reflect current healthcare realities across diverse settings in the United States and globally.
