American Senior Alliance Launches New Public Campaign to Protect Medicaid
ATLANTA, Feb. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Senior Alliance, a not-for-profit organization that advocates for older Americans, today announced a new initiative aimed at raising awareness about the importance of protecting Medicaid. Across the nation, Medicaid provides funding for seniors who need nursing home care. The group's new initiative will focus on direct outreach to the public with the message that protecting Medicaid is a high priority for seniors and their loved ones.

Using this page, advocates for seniors and Medicaid can quickly and easily send a message to their members of Congress. The website is part of a broader campaign to raise awareness about the importance of the Medicaid program and the need to protect the program on behalf of seniors.
Nearly a million and a half seniors in the U.S. are residents of nursing homes. For many of them, Medicaid is the crucial funding lifeline for their care. However, some in Congress continue to call for changes to the way the program is funded, many of which could reduce total funding for Medicaid. Any changes that scale back funding for Medicaid are likely to cause state administrators of Medicaid to consider service cuts, including nursing home care.
