American Technical Education Association Meets for 51st Annual Conference
Hosted by Dunwoody College of Technology, Conference Aims at Driving Opportunities for Success through Entrepreneurship and Emerging Trends
MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Postsecondary technical educators will convene in St. Paul this March for the 51st American Technical Education Association (ATEA) Conference. The conference, hosted by Dunwoody College of Technology, March 26-28, is an opportunity for technical educators, administrators and business partners to tackle the ever-changing opportunities and challenges to meet workforce needs.
"Every year, the higher education landscape becomes more complex to navigate, both for students and providers," said Sandra Krebsbach, ATEA executive director. "The conference is one of the best opportunities in the country for educators and employers to meet and discuss these challenges and share best practices."
Conference attendees and vendors will have the opportunity to share best practices and network with other industry leaders. Vendors from across the country will be on hand with an extensive display of the latest technologies in hardware, software and web tools for enhancing coursework and activities. On-site visits to local companies such as Tennant, HealthPartners and Buhler are also offered.
Acclaimed author, futurist and scholar Jack Uldrich will start off the conference with his keynote "10 Trends Transforming the Technical Education of Tomorrow." A panel on entrepreneurship will feature alumni from Dunwoody College of Technology who have started companies that range from small to Fortune 500 size. The conference's closing panel will highlight all the trends that emerge from the breakout sessions and will give a complete set of choices for professional development relevant to 2014.
The ATEA national awards will be given out at the Award luncheon on Thursday March 27. The awards are for outstanding technical student, technical teacher and technical program. ATEA in conjunction with the National Technical Honor Society awards the "Silver Star of Excellence Award" to industry partners that are exemplary in providing technical assistance, financial support, donations of equipment and materials as well as placement of graduates. The Silver Star of Excellence Award will go to John Deere Company, nominated by Arkansas State University-Beebe and to Cloud Peak Energy (CPE) nominated by Northern Wyoming Community College District Sheridan, Buffalo and Gillette Wyoming.
