American Thermal Instruments Launches ATI DataNow for Faster, Worldwide Access to Temperature Monitoring Data

DAYTON, Ohio, Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- American Thermal Instruments (ATI) today announced the launch of ATI DataNow, featuring cloud computing capabilities that provide immediate worldwide access to LOG-IC® temperature monitoring data. The launch follows a 6-month pilot program in which businesses from multiple industries monitored cold chain temperatures with NFC-enabled smartphones running the LOG-IC Mobile App.

The pilot program proved the advantages of using smartphones to scan LOG-IC data loggers. After downloading the app to a smartphone, users not only gained the ability to scan NFC loggers, but they also were able to review and communicate real-time temperature monitoring data. This was the first such use of an app in the cold chain industry to provide fully functional end-to-end temperature monitoring in real-time.

When authorized users log onto ATI DataNow, they see a table of their most recent scans. Temperature excursions represent the greatest concern, so they are clearly indicated by an excursion icon in the status column. In addition, excursion alerts are shown at the top of the page, which display how many new excursions have occurred since the last login. Users can click on this link to immediately display excursion details.

The ATI DataNow overview page serves as a dashboard with key criteria listed for each LOG-IC tag. These include a tag ID, scan location, start date, latest scan, and status. Any of the criteria can be sorted and all entries are searchable. Users also have the option to download reports on any tag, which can be analyzed online, printed, or emailed.

Detailed reports on each tag can be accessed by simply clicking on the tag ID. These show time and temperature details, the tag configuration, and its scan history. A map also displays scan locations and an icon at each location to clearly indicate an excursion or temperatures within the accepted range.

"They were even more impressed that their logistics and quality control people gained immediate access to the data around the world, with greater clarity and analysis capabilities. This allowed them to take informed action on verified excursions before the shipment reached its destination."

ATI DataNow is accessible across a variety of platforms. Based on market trends and potential cost-savings, ATI expects NFC-enabled smartphones to be the primary device for scanning and uploading temperature data. This will likely include the next version of the iPhone, which market analysts expect to include an NFC chip.
