America's Best Known Hostage Negotiator Chris Voss Praises Obama's U.S. Hostage Policy Change
LOS ANGELES, June 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Chris Voss, America's best-known hostage negotiator, who served for four (4) years as the F.B.I.'s lead hostage negotiator, has praised the Obama administrations change in office U.S. hostage policy saying:
"The changes announced today by the White House are steps in the right direction. One of the coordination issues behind the scenes within the U.S. Government has always been that no one from the White House had this assignment as their exclusive focus; it was in addition to multiple other duties.
"These changes should go a long way toward curing issues of inter-agency miscommunication."
Voss, who now heads the negotiation firm The Black Swan Group – (http://blackswanltd.com), said, "Removing the threat of prosecution of families whose loved ones are under the threat of death from kidnappers is the morally correct thing to do. It also tacitly recognizes the fact that they are the victims of an ongoing extortion as well and should be aided as opposed to threatened."
Voss' comments could be a welcome surprise for the Obama administration noting that Voss was previously very critical of Obama after the Sgt. Bergdal hostage deal, where Voss called the transfer an "embarrassment for the United States."
