WASHINGTON, Sept. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In a sign of the growing importance of natural gas export policy to America's manufacturing renaissance, a global manufacturer with a plant under construction in Louisiana has joined America's Energy Advantage (AEA), the coalition of manufacturers and consumers pursuing a balanced approach to LNG exports to countries which have not negotiated FTAs with the US. Incitec Pivot, a global explosives and fertilizer manufacturer based in Australia, recently began work on a new $850 million ammonia plant in Waggaman, Louisiana.
Earlier this month, the US Department of Energy (DOE) approved the fourth application to export American natural gas to non-FTA countries, and there are over twenty additional applications. America's Energy Advantage has been educating the public and policymakers about the importance of having an available and affordable domestic natural gas supply, especially since it is helping to power a manufacturing renaissance underway in the U.S.
"Our growing coalition demonstrates the importance of the LNG export debate to the economic viability and manufacturing renaissance in the U.S. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity that our country has to revitalize a critical component to our economy and create millions of American jobs. We support a balanced approach to exports that takes into consideration the public interest like consumer prices and the potential for vast job creation, and we welcome others to join our coalition," said Jennifer Diggins, Chair of America's Energy Advantage.
"Incitec Pivot is pleased to join America's Energy Advantage. Incitec Pivot's decision to invest in the US is a clear demonstration that the priorities of America's Energy Advantage will attract and promote investment, development and employment in the US," said James Fazzino, Chief Executive Officer of Incitec Pivot.
