AMI Chief Digital Officer Joe Bilman Named Global Head of Business Development
NEW YORK, Aug. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Joe Bilman, Chief Digital Officer of American Media, Inc. (AMI), has been named Global Head of Business Development for AMI. "In little over a year, Joe Bilman has taken our investment in digital and substantially increased our footprint," reports David J. Pecker, Chairman, President and CEO of AMI. "As the AMI brands grow in influence, it is only natural that Joe should be charged with charting the company's expansion in the global marketplace," he said.
Bilman, who joined AMI as Chief Digital Officer in September of 2012, previously served as acting Head of Product for Isis Mobile Commerce, a joint venture between Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile in the mobile payments space. Prior to that, he was the creator of Bitbop, the world's first on-demand TV and movie subscription service for mobile devices, which he developed while serving as chief product officer for Fox Mobile. In 2010, he was named one of "The Digital Power 50" by The Hollywood Reporter.
"I'm excited to take on this new role," reported Bilman. "AMI made a big commitment to digital and this quarter alone we saw 124% year-over-year traffic growth and 120% year over year revenue growth, and that is just the beginning. Digital has all the potential to be an important source of expansion for the AMI brands, and the synergy with print is a clear advantage," Bilman said.
