"Iran has one of the biggest economies in the middle-east and over 60 percent of its 80 million people are under 30 years old. There is currently a huge competition among local and international brands to reach out to their potential customers and advertising is the best way to do that. That's why advertising industry has grown to a 600-million-dollar industry in recent years in the country. It is noteworthy that new media like internet and especially social media has revolved this industry because Iran has the largest internet and smartphone penetration rate in the middle-east," said Dr. Mohammad Reza Ghadimi, the managing director of the newspaper.
"Forsat-e-Emrooz daily is the first newspaper in Iran to carry out case studies on activitiessuch as marketing, sales, advertising and management and has reviewed and analyzed the activity of Iranian companies and brands in these areas," he added.
Over the past 22 months, analysis and reviews by advertising experts and executives of the adverts by Iranian companies have been published on a daily basis in the paper's "Advertising Management" page.
The page has become an important resource for those involved in the sector. "Following the success of the page, we have decided to launch an online system to evaluate the advertisements more broadly and to assess and rank the advertisements published and screened in different media," said Mr. Ghadimi.
"In fact, this ranking system has grown out of the "Advertising Management" page and is the fruit of 22 months of work by reporters, editors and managers at the newspaper," he added.
Mohammad Zarrin, executive director of the advertising ranking website (http://www.ads.forsatnet.ir), said that the website's creation was the result of months of "research, discussion and consultation."
"In order to set up a reliable ranking system, the executive team has studied more than 300 analyses published in Forsat-e Emrooz and has interviewed more than 200 advertising experts. In addition, the team has reviewed and monitored the world's top advertising ranking websites with the help of experienced advisors," Mr. Zarrin stated.
"Although similar work has been done in Iran, this website is the only one that reviews the advertisements on a daily basis. With access to this website, users have the opportunity to rank the advertisements. The website also provides users with the views of the committee that ranks the adverts," he added.
The ranking website gathers and monitors advertisements published or screened in the Iranian media on a daily basis. At the end of each quarter, advertisements are ranked based on the scores given by the users and referees. The newspaper announces the winners at the end of every year.
