NEW YORK, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ana Tzarev Gallery (http://www.anatzarev.com/) is featuring portraits inspired by the artist Ana Tzarev 's years of travel and research of diverse cultures. This exhibition celebrates her many unique encounters with individual people in vastly different parts of the world. Tzarev's serious interest in cultural history as well as daily life enabled her to meet numerous local religious leaders, merchants, performance artists and educators, among others. She was deeply touched by these remarkable people and inspired to create the portraits.

Tzarev's expressive style brings intensity to the portraits, which range widely both in composition and emotion. Paintings featuring the great Kabuki actors, Nakamura Ganjiro III and Shinnosuke capture their discipline and unwavering focus while the man in Grand Old Maya is both fateful and proud and The Healer (Shanghai) connotes serenity. The portraits also reflect realistic cultural references in the colors of clothes, textiles and ornaments as seen in her portrait of a young woman in The Songbird of Thika.
Special Exhibitions: Hands and Portraits from Rwanda
The Ana Tzarev Gallery will also be presenting two special exhibitions during this exhibition including an innovative multimedia installation entitled Hands by Maria Grazia Facciola showcasing how hands shape people's lives and a stirring photography exhibition by Jonathan Wallen featuring portraits shot during his travels in Rwanda.
