The 2 standard grades of PA are PA6 and PA66, which are differentiated by their production process. PA6 is made by hydrolytic polymerization of caprolactam, and PA66 is made by polycondensation of hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid. Special copolyamide grades are also produced. PA is primarily used by the automotive (inside the motor), textile, and furniture industries.

PC
PC is a type of polyester in which the carbonate ester groups are linked by aromatic groups. The polymer is produced by an interfacial process where bisphenol A, which is also the raw material for epoxy and polyacetal resins, is phosgenated in the presence of methylene chloride under controlled conditions. PC has been used as a substitute for glass in applications such as in sunglasses, media (CDs and DVDs), vehicles, and construction.

POM
POM, also called polyacetal, is a highly crystalline polymer made by the polymerization of formaldehyde through trioxanes to produce a homopolymer. POM can be used in gears, shifts, valves, and tubing components.

PBT
PBT is a semi-crystalline, saturated polyester produced by the polycondensation of terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate with 1,4-butanediol in the presence of a catalyst. Terephthalic acid, dimethyl terephtalate, and 1,4-butanediol are derived from petrochemicals such as xylene and acetylene. Because of its stable electrical properties, PBT is used in headlight frames, mirror systems, circuit breakers, sockets, and switches.
