Anand Shroff Named Chief Technology and Product Officer of Health Fidelity
MENLO PARK, Calif., May 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Fidelity, Inc., today announced that it has named Anand Shroff its Chief Technology and Product Officer. In this role, Shroff will be responsible for the strategy, development and marketing of Health Fidelity's products and technology.
"In a healthcare environment that has moved from volume-based to value-based, Health Fidelity is focused on improving quality and delivering efficiency by addressing an urgent need: extracting value from unstructured clinical data," said Shroff. "Being a part of this company presents an exciting opportunity to be involved in such a critical movement."
Before joining Health Fidelity, Shroff was Vice President of Products for Optum, where he was responsible for creating and bringing to market the company's Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) product suites. Shroff was instrumental in defining the roadmap to integrate HIE into Optum's broader cloud strategy. He also led initiatives to integrate the HIE product suite with Optum's analytic assets to deliver richer solutions to clients.
Prior to that position, Shroff was Vice President of Products at Axolotl Corp. (later acquired by Optum) where he helped the company achieve a leadership position in the HIE market. Shroff pioneered the use of service oriented architectures (SOA) and introduced one of the first SOA platforms in the HIE industry which enabled an open, heterogeneous environment for rich solution delivery to clients. Shroff also introduced the industry's first connected data warehouse, which aggregated data flowing through the HIE for downstream analysis. With these and other efforts, he helped Axolotl more than double its revenues during his tenure.
Before joining Axolotl, Shroff served as Senior Director of Products for the Health Sciences Global Business Unit at Oracle USA, where he was responsible for developing clinical data management and healthcare analytics solutions. At Oracle, Shroff led the development of the Healthcare Transaction Base, the world's first commercial implementation of the HL7 Version 3 Reference Implementation Model (RIM). Additionally, he led the development of Enterprise Healthcare Analytics, Oracle's flagship business intelligence solution for healthcare enterprises.
"Anand was instrumental in defining success in HIE technology, helping to create one of the earliest success stories in healthcare data transformation," said Dan Riskin, M.D., CEO of Health Fidelity. "We are fortunate to have him join Health Fidelity, where he will bring his expertise to the next great opportunity in healthcare data transformation: making unstructured clinical data usable."
Last month, Health Fidelity launched REVEAL™, a cloud-based natural language processing (NLP) service, based upon the understanding that to improve patient outcomes and leverage workflow efficiencies, health care organizations (HCOs) must unlock the value of clinical information locked in unstructured form. An estimated 80 percent of these data are trapped within the notes of physicians, nurses and care managers, making it difficult for applications to utilize the full, detailed record of a patient that HCOs need in order to achieve gains in quality, coordination of care, HIE interoperability and accountable care.
