BAYPORT, Minn., May 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Window installation is happening today as Andersen Corporation is providing a team of more than 40 volunteers this week to help build one of 10 new affordable homes for Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity^® Blitz Build.

"Helping to build energy-efficient, good-quality homes for working families is one of the key ways we live our long-standing values of corporate citizenship and partnership in the communities where we live and work," said Eliza Clark, who leads employee volunteerism for Andersen and participating in the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build. "Combining employee volunteerism with financial support creates a stronger community connection and engagement."

The Birdland Park neighborhood, where the Blitz Build is taking place, experienced a second 100-year flood in 2008 when a levee breached and devastated an area where 270 homes previously stood leaving only 54 homes standing. The levees have since been rebuilt and certified.

Andersen has a storm door manufacturing facility in Des Moines. For over a decade, the Andersen team has been supporting the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity affiliate providing funding in excess of $200,000, more than 300 storm doors, multiple sets of windows, and more than 1,000 hours of employee volunteer time.
