Annual Lompoc Police and Fire Car Show to Give Back to Veterans
Annual Event Raises Over $20,000 for Wounded Warrior Project
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On September 15, the Lompoc City Police Department will donate $20,000 to Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP), which it raised at the 14th annual Lompoc Police and Fire Car Show. The donation will provide resources to WWP and its 20 free programs and services, like Transition Training Academy (TTA) which provides veterans with the skills they need to find coding and billing jobs. TTA also offers educational opportunities for WWP Alumni, families, and caregivers to increase skills in computer fields including computer repair, computer networking, and computer security. Along with the Warriors to Work® and Education Services programs, TTA provides hope in the transition back to civilian life and economically empowers injured service members and their supporters.
"We selected Wounded Warrior Project as the 2015 Police and Fire Car Show beneficiary because they have provided needed assistance to Lompoc and Vandenberg Air Force Base residents, and our community is grateful for that," said Sergeant Kevin Martin of the Lompoc Police Department.
"We are extremely grateful for the kindness and generosity that has come from the Lompoc Police Department," said Adam Silva, chief development officer of WWP. "This donation and others like it provide WWP with the support and resources that are crucial for us to fulfill our mission to honor and empower Wounded Warriors."
Since 2003, WWP has grown its lifesaving programs and services to meet the evolving needs of the constituency it serves. These programs and services are uniquely structured to engage warriors, nurture their minds and bodies, and encourage economic empowerment. Through a high-touch and interactive approach, WWP's vision is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history.
