Annual Sally Beauty Best Tressed® Survey Recaps Highs and Lows in Celebrity Style

DENTON, Texas, Jan. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The 18th annual Sally Beauty Best Tressed® Survey, commissioned by Sally Beauty Supply, takes a look back at 2011's best and worst celebrity hairstyles by asking American women to cast a vote on the good, the bad and the ugly. Additionally, the survey asked participants to weigh in on their own styling habits, which yielded interesting results.

2011 proved it was not a winning year for Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan, with both taking home Worst Hairstyle honors. Voters agreed that royal hair ruled, and bestowed upon Kate Middleton the title of Best Female Hairstyle. Ryan Gosling may not have won sexiest man alive, but his luscious locks narrowly beat out Bradley Cooper, earning him the Best Male Hairstyle of 2011.  Kelly Ripa's blonde 'do was overwhelmingly voted as the best television personality hairstyle.

The survey participants also divulged their own personal dos and don'ts of hair care.  Some interesting outcomes include:

• 39% of women chose "texture" as the one thing they would change about their hair if they could. 22% said "color."
• 49% of women cite a drastic hair cut as the biggest hair risk they have ever taken, followed by 26% who say a bold color.
• 46% of women say their go-to hairstyle while working out is a ponytail. Surprisingly, 43% workout with their hair down.  
• Votes were split pretty evenly among the biggest bold trends of 2011. 30% chose sparkles, 29% said bright streaks were their favorite, and 27% were fans of feathers.
• For the second year in a row, Halle Berry's perky pixie was voted the best of the short 'dos.

The Sally Beauty Supply Best Tressed® Survey polled results from 1,000 women and was conducted by MarketTools, Inc. The survey ran from December 15, 2011 to December 16, 2011.
